During this time, Jill took responsibility of a national project to raise awareness and understanding of issues facing refugees and Oversees Trained Teachers into education. In 2005 Jill took up an appointment as Programme Leader for the employment based teacher training routes for primary and secondary phases at Newman University and led this programme to an Outstanding Ofsted Inspection in 2010.
Jill’s work at the University of Worcester utilises her expertise and research interests in Initial Teacher Education and in particular, the transition of trainee teacher and early career teacher to practitioner. Her research has focused on the perceptions of newly qualified teachers into the profession and the role of mentors in supporting and modeling classroom practice with peers and trainees. Jill has presented her research work at the 2013 and 2015 Annual TEAN Conferences .
Establishing and developing a range of collaborative practices and models of partnership with schools and educational settings is a major drive in her current role. Jill represents the Institute of Education as a strategic partner in a number of regional Teaching Alliances and Multi Academy Trusts. In 2016 -17 Jill led the Institutional approval of the Prince Henry’s and South Worcestershire SCITT. In May 2017 Jill was the External Reviewer for Sheffield Hallam University in approving the Silverdale Teaching Alliance National Modern Languages SCITT.
