Role Summary

Role Summary

Jenny is the Quality Committee Secretary responsible for quality administration for the whole of the Institute of Education.

Jenny also provides support for the Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, which is provided as professional development for teaching staff.

Since 2005, Jenny has been a Team Leader within the Academic Support Unit (ASU).

Jenny has been providing PA support to the Head of Centre for Education and Inclusion since 2012.

Quality Committee Secretary

This role includes, among others:

  • planning, scheduling and managing the annual course evaluation process
  • monitoring of external examiner report submissions and course leaders' responses to reports
  • monitoring of external examiner tenures and workload allocation
  • organising scrutiny meetings for internal course approvals
  • managing the amendments process for modules and courses and tracking cumulative changes
  • coordinating the end-of-module evaluation process
  • allocating chairs for exam boards

Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Administrator

Responsibilities include:

  • liaising extensively across all parts of the University - with academic Institutes, Human Resources and Registry in relation to the PG Cert programme
  • liaising with professional bodies regarding staff development where appropriate (Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) and the Higher Education Academy (HEA)
  • contributing to the planning and preparation for study days
  • responding to general enquiries from potential candidates and participants

Academic Support Unit Team Leader

Duties include:

  • monitoring workload and changing requirements within the team to ensure that resources are allocated appropriately
  • managing and delegating ad-hoc jobs within the team area
  • conducting the performance appraisals of team members
  • assisting with strategic planning for the ASU
  • liaising with the ASU Manager and the other Team Leader to ensure coordination of workload and sharing best practice across the ASU
  • assisting the ASU Manager with all aspects of her role and acting on her behalf when required
