Hubert is a lecturer in the University of Worcester. Before joining the university, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in RIKEN Japan, as well as a research assistant in the City University of Hong Kong. He received his Ph. D. degree in the School of Informatics from the University of Edinburgh, and received his Master and Bachelor degrees in the City University of Hong Kong.
