Working with schools
The Institute of Health and Society has many links with schools and colleges, enabling local students to experience higher education and take advantage of our excellent facilities and expertise.
We offer a range of services for teachers and careers advisers, aimed at supporting you and your students through every stage of the transition from school to university.
We organise activities for students and teachers visiting the University and also take activities out into schools and colleges.
For example, in the Psychology Department we hold 2 or 3 events every year for students in years 11, 12 and 13. Recent events include 'The Psychology of Christmas' and a forensic psychology criminal profiling event. We also go out to schools to talk to students about studying psychology at university and having a career as a psychologist.
At a variety of levels, we give insights into current research, explain degree and career options and generally enthuse the next generation to study at university.
