Senior Fellow
Institute of Science & the Environment
After serving as a Head of Department at Worcester for 15 years, I ‘stepped down’ to a part-time role two years ago and now teach some first-year modules in Human Geography while acting as Co-ordinator for the Undergraduate Modular Scheme. At the same time I changed the nature of my research, which had formerly focused on the growth of manufacturing industry in Herefordshire (there are factories and workshops there if you look for them!) I’m now engaged in a number of studies of what might be termed ‘the modern student experience’, investigating some of the factors (including geography) that influence achievement in higher education.
