A pharmacist by profession, I have spent most of my career teaching various healthcare professionals and undertaking research in universities and other organisations in the UK, US (where I headed a haematology programme for NASA at The Lyndon B Johnson Space Center, Houston), and Norway. I have participated in national schemes to assess university teaching and research qualities.

Pharmacology. Roles for non-medically qualified healthcare professionals in the NHS.

Research Interest:

Pharmaceutical aspects of health care delivery; quality issues in further/higher education; non-medical prescribing; the physiological effects of space flight (no longer very active).

I was a Governor of Stroud College for eight years until its merger with Filton College. I am in my second term as an elected Public Governor for the Stroud District Constituency area to the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I am also a Public Governor to The Peak Academy a Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Academy in Cam, Gloucestershire. I sit as a professional (pharmacy) member on fitness-to-practise appeal panels of the Health, Education and Social Care Chamber of the Ministry of Justice Tribunals Service: this Chamber is concerned with appeals on Public Health, Care Standards, and Special Education Needs & Disabilities.
