Teaching & Research
Most of my teaching is in the area of Occupational Psychology, I teach on the MSc programme and I also run undergraduate modules on business and coaching psychology. I have an interest in employability and career development so I also run modules for our second years on work based learning and applied psychology. Both of these modules help students to think about their own career choices and develop employability skills.
I am also the course leader for the sport and exercise psychology pathway.
My research is in the area of careers and personal development, this includes student employability, coaching and organisational career management. Current projects include; looking at the academic-practitioner divide in occupational psychology, an examination of the benefits of teaching coaching psychology to undergraduate students and considering the differences between named and general degree pathways in psychology.
I am also invoved in a large knowledge transfer project which centres around the commercial development of the Career Competencies Indicator. This is a psychometric test developed by Sandra Haase at the University of Worcester as part of her PhD. I am now working in partnership with Consulting Tools to develop this measure and produce it as a product available for use within consultancy, career guidance and in house career development programmes.
