Research

Research

Caroline is currently involved in doctoral research investigating the use of personalised playlists with dementia on a longitudinal basis.  As a part-time student Caroline can conduct her research over a much longer time period than is usually available to doctoral students. This will enable her to question how responses to the music of personalised playlists differ or change as the dementia progresses and if the use of playlists retains the efficacy in certain areas that has been shown in the short-term by previous studies.

Caroline is supervised by Professor Dawn Brooker, Dr Claire Garabedian  and Professor Eleanor Bradley - University of Worcester

Professional Experience

Professional Experience

Caroline’s initial interest in dementia stemmed from her mother developing severe dementia at a young age and this interest has since become a passion to improve the lives of those with dementia.  Caroline also has gained professional experience with dementia over the last fifteen years where she has been involved with both Age Concern and the Alzheimer’s Society.  This has participation has lead to a great deal of direct contact with people with dementia both in their homes and at events such as Dementia Cafes.  Most recently Caroline became one of the first people to be engaged in the Side by Side project being pioneered by the Alzheimer’s Society.

Along side her research Caroline has taken part in the Researcher Development Programme at Worcester University.  She has also pursued a great deal of further education specific to dementia since finishing her Masters degree to enhance her knowledge and understanding in this field.

Whilst carrying out her research Caroline will maintain her role and contacts within the Alzheimer’s Society.
