About the Arena

In January 2010 the University announced that it had bought the former fruit and vegetable market on Worcester’s Hylton Road with the intention of building a new advanced indoor multi-purpose arena and active leisure centre, ‘The Worcester Arena’. It has also acquired the site of the neighbouring former car showroom for drama, dance, sport and performance teaching facilities. The Worcester Arena will be opening its doors to both University students and the general public in 20123

The Worcester Arena will make a real difference to people’s lives by increasing sport participation from grass roots to elite level. The facilities will cater for disability by design and enable true inclusion. It will serve as the home ground for the Worcester Wolves basketball team, and as a venue for a wide range of memorable sporting events. The introduction of this 2,000 seat arena will bring some wonderful opportunities to the region and will attract a great range of top-class regional, national and international events to the City.
