Your first week
A Warm Welcome Awaits You
When you arrive at the University of Worcester, the first people you are likely to meet are the staff of the International Centre, who will give you practical and friendly advice and support. If they can’t help you they will certainly put you in touch with someone who can.
We provide an Induction Programme to help you settle down quickly into life at the University of Worcester and also organise social activities and cultural trips to help you get to know other students and to explore your surroundings.
Before each semester there is an international Student Induction Week.
All overseas students are asked to attend this week. It will give you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the University and there will be additional support available to deal with queries and help you settle in. You will also be able to meet the academic staff and choose the modules you will be studying. To ensure that your enrolment can be processed as quickly as possible, it is essential that you bring the following:
- Your unconditional offer letter
- Original documents of all relevant academic qualifications
- Original documents of English language qualifications
- Fee payment (if you have previously paid your fees, you will need to bring the relevant receipt)
- Your passport
- Confirmation of your home address e.g. bank statement or utility bill.
International Student Induction
Wednesday 25th, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th January 2012
As the University of Worcester is going to be your home for the duration of your course it is very important that you arrive in time for induction and take advantage of all the opportunities you will have to get used to the campus and the culture. Attending induction can make a big difference to your ability to succeed as an international student.
The International Centre has prepared three days of orientation for you so that you start your courses on Monday 30th January with all your practical issues sorted out and a feeling of being comfortable in your second home.
During these days you will be guided through the practical steps of registration, opening bank accounts, registering with the police (if necessary), getting IT access, registering for English support and getting your Students' Union card. There will be a programme of social events to help you get to know each other and your surroundings.
You will also have an opportunity to meet your course leader or departmental link tutor to find out about your academic timetable and the modules you will be studying.
Please read your Induction timetable. There is no need to print it out as a final and updated copy will be in your Welcome Pack.
We look forward to meeting you.
