Description: Art in Minds Foundation is a registered charity supporting adults from around Worcestershire who have suffered from or are currently experiencing mental ill health. We currently have over 160 members and since 2004 our artists have been able to develop, share and broaden their creative skills in a supported environment where attending practical arts based workshops, one to one tutorials and participating in exhibiting opportunities, art groups and social events is actively encouraged. Getting involved with the organisation through its volunteering opportunities has helped some of our members re-engage with employment and education, leading to a more fulfilled life. Our aim is to encourage creativity and social interaction, improve confidence and self-esteem whilst reducing the stigma that people with mental health issues face in everyday life.

Duration: 6 months

Duties: AIMs events co-ordinator is a vital role within our organisation to engage with our members (past and present) to take an active role within the community and engage socially with others. The planning aspect of this role will take place predominantly in our city centre based office for approximately 2hours per week (Thursdays are preferable) and training and supervision will be provided. Examples of previous events would be trips to art exhibitions, drop in sessions with volunteers for a cup of tea, support days, a photography walk or sketching by the river (obviously weather dependant). This could be small exhibitions in local areas or member specific social outings. This role is very flexible. The events will be advertised to our members and should encourage use of local community spaces and resources as well as promoting healthy lifestyles and creativity. 

As well as working closely with our admin team (as a lot of the tasks involved in putting on an event are administrative), for this role you will be required to:

Liaise with the other members of the events team, ensuring a consistency of approach and delivery of service to participants of events.

Work from the AIMs office as required.

Be responsible for supporting participants during events.

 Explore opportunities and co-ordinate events and activities.

Be responsible for organising and booking venues / transport as required.

Consider organising both arts based events and social activities with more of a focus on health and wellbeing, e.g. guided city walk, delivering a balanced and inclusive programme. It would be preferable you were also able to attend our monthly meeting (last Friday of every month). This will help you to be a known face to our members and port of contact for them if needed. There will also be opportunities to be involved in fundraising, member support and raising awareness about what our organisation does as a whole if you wish to.

Person Specification: Good social and communication skills are essential. Working with vulnerable adults and personal details a CRB would be required and an understanding of confidentiality and data handling rules and regulation (policies will be supplied).  The role will take place predominantly in our city centre based office for approximately 2hours per week (Thursdays are preferable) and training and supervision will be provided.
