The successful candidate will join a team of enthusiastic, committed and friendly staff within the Department of Allied Health in the Institute of Health and Society.
The post holder will also work collaboratively with colleagues across the Institute and wider University.
This post holder will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate awards within the Institute. The post holder will contribute to learning, teaching and assessment in the occupational therapy curriculum alongside supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate research and scholarly activity.
The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with partner trusts, independent and voluntary sector organisations to enhance occupational therapy practice in University and practice arenas. The Institute is committed to engagement of users and carers in the curriculum and to inter-professional learning. The post holder will contribute across disciplines, include Physiotherapy, Physicians Associate and Advanced Clinical Practice.
The successful applicant will have a realistic vision for developing the research agenda alongside the existing Professoriate. They will also be supported to develop the national and international standing and reputation for the applied research undertaken in the Institute and to lead and participate in professional development to support applied research. In support of this, the University of Worcester is home to the Association for Dementia Studies which make a national and international contribution to building evidence-based practical ways of working with people living with dementia and their families. In addition, the University of Worcester’s National Centre for Violence is a centre of excellence that makes a significant contribution to knowledge transfer and evidence based policy and practice and ultimately to prevention.
The Institute of Health and Society has a state of the art simulation centre, which includes home, therapy and hospital simulation suites. We are committed to developing skilled practitioners, through the development of practice skills in simulated environments as well as in clinical practice.

Staff are primarily located in one academic department but contribute to course delivery across the Institute in respect of their expertise.
Candidates invited to interview will be asked to deliver a 15 minute micro teaching session. The topic is “Occupational therapy with marginalised or underserved populations.”
This session should be prepared as if being delivered to undergraduate level 6 students. This will be followed by 5 minutes of questions relating to the teaching session and an interview of approximately 30 minutes duration.

- Main duties
1. To undertake teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels on modules within the occupational therapy and physiotherapy programmes;
2. To contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, marking and moderation of student work, individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance procedures;
3. To design and develop innovative and inspiring learning materials and assessments;
4. To participate fully in on going course design and development, including interdisciplinary courses and service led initiatives;
5. To contribute systematically to the further development of local and regional partnership working;
6. To engage in tripartite arrangements with students and mentors/ supervisors as to facilitate effective partnership working and student support;
7. To actively engage in scholarship, research and professional / academic publication to further leadership, mentoring and coaching in ways which contribute to the University’s / Institute’s objectives and contribute to ensuring up-to-date, leading edge teaching;
8. To undertake tutorial responsibilities, including maintaining records, for a group and/or individual students as required in order to support students to
a. optimise their learning opportunities and career progression
b. monitor their progress, deal with difficulties and enable them to develop the skills to do this for themselves;

1. Master’s Degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject.
2. Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as an Occupational Therapist.
3. Evidence of teaching at HE level that demonstrates excellence and innovation, including the ability to enthuse, motivate and facilitate student learning and intellectual challenge, using a variety of methods of learning and teaching, including blended learning.
4. Evidence of experience and expertise in Occupational Therapy.
5. Evidence of contemporary knowledge of the context of health and care services and the ability to work in a systematic way with external bodies e.g. Trusts and voluntary/ independent sector providers.
6. Ability to undertake quality research and to demonstrate subject specialism within Occupational Therapy.
7. Evidence of publication and/or scholarly activity consistent with career stage.
8. Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with a wide range of people, both orally and in writing.
9. Effective team-working and inter-personal skills.
10. Evidence of on-going CPD.
