Hari Hakala from Finland

Business Management BA (Hons)

When I came to University of Worcester, I did not believe the opportunities and uniqueness, which this university has given to me regarding studying and other extracurricular activities.

I start my undergraduate business management 3 years ago. During that time I was amazed that the tutors who taught, where people who had real life experience in the area that they taught. They did not only teach us academically, but also by putting us it to real life situations to solve.

I have also achieved a Worcester award certificate that shows the extra work that I have put to develop myself.

Moreover, after 2 years of studying, I took the opportunity to do a work placement to test the skills that I had learned, in real business environment at Worcester Bosch. Getting to placement position was relatively challenging, but with good range of helpful workshops and skilled staff, I was well prepared.

For the social side, the University offers a range of good opportunity to develop future employability and extracurricular activities. I have been elected SU International officer 2 years in a row and I have had chance to help other students. During that time, I started an International Committee with other students who had the same willingness to help others. Now we are working with Students’ Union and International Office to improve the student experience for international students.

My advice would be that studying is important, but if you manage to do something extra on the side, that will develop yourself and will look good for your future career.

Coming to this University was a right choice for me, because it has given me more than the opportunity to study.
