A mother and daughter are graduating together from the University of Worcester today.
Alison Barratt and her daughter Zoey Patrick will receive their awards during a special ceremony at Worcester Cathedral.
Alison, age 57, achieved First Class Honours in her BA Honours Social Welfare (Child and Adolescent Mental Health) after previously completing a Foundation degree at the University. Zoey, meanwhile, has just completed the same Foundation degree that her mum did.
“I am extremely proud and honoured to have received a First Class Honours at the University, which reflects both the grounding and support alongside my very hard work,” she said. “I have really enjoyed studying at the University of Worcester and have received wonderful support throughout my studies from course leaders, tutors and peers.”
Alison said she decided to return to education after a career change from secretarial work and over a decade of working with vulnerable families. “I wanted to enhance my understanding of the mental health and development of those that I work with, aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes for all families,” she said.
